Threshing Bee

Threshing Bee date has been set for Saturday September 11, 2004. Where?
Bill & Carole McLean farm south on highway 613. The McLean's have graciously agreed to host a threshing bee with wagon rides, farm games, scarecrow contest, food booth, souvenir booth, and family fun. We are hoping that mother nature will co-operate and give us good weather so the grain will ripen and can be cut on the morning of September 2nd or 3rd and then it can be stooked on the 3rd or 4th. Stooking will hopefully take place around 6pm. The committee was out to help last year and we all learnt a thing or two. We will be out there again this year to learn even more. It was a lot of fun and promises to be bigger and better this year. There are likely to be two
threshing machines and possibly a couple of teams of horses that are wanting to hook up to the machines to show how it used to be done.

Have you seen the tractor balancing event? It is an event of skill and knowledge of the weight of your tractor. Balancing on a teeter-totter type apparatus, the trick is to get the tractor to balance perfectly. This should prove to be very interesting to watch, or maybe try? Come on out and join in the fun and excitement as the threshing machines start up around 1:00. Bring your lawn chairs and have fun galore in 2004.

Later on in the evening 8:00p.m., we will be holding a barn dance. Pat and Kim Cornell have invited us to their newly renovated barn where we can dance to live music and carry on a tradition of years gone by. So grab a partner, your family and your stomping boots and come join in the fun. For more information your can contact any of the centennial committee members, Bill & Carole McLean or Pat and Kim Cornell. See you there for more FUN GALORE IN 2004!!!
