EVERYONE LOVES A PARADE
There have been parades in the municipality in the past but not in recent years.
Parades were held in LaVallee and Devlin to celebrate certain events such as the First of July or Orangeman's Day but have been thing of the past for many years. This year our Centennial Parade promises to be the largest and most varied ever seen in the three townships. You will not want to miss it.
Entries are coming in for the huge parade that will take place to help celebrate LaVallee Municipality's first 100 years. The parade will start from the Crossroads School at 10: a.m. Saturday, July 3rd, 2004. It will continue to the south and through the village of Devlin. Spectators and participants are ensured of a good time. After the parade the antique cars and tractors will disband to set up in designated areas in Devlin for viewing.
If you have not yet entered your float you are encouraged to enter soon to add to the growing list. Some suggestions for floats are: historical, family oriented, businesses (past and present), organizations, agriculture/farming, logging, educational, First Nations, churches, sports, antique cars trucks, tractors, machinery, bicycles, marching bands, individuals, -- the list is endless. These are just some of the ideas that might be used.
Plan now to enter this giant parade. Contact Liz Donaldson 482-3334 (lizdon@jam21.net) or other committee members Joyce Witherspoon, Freeda Carmody, Maxine Hayes, Sheri Stamarski. Ken McKinnon, Don McCulloch
This will be the parade of the century! There are still a few little details that are to be worked out and complete details will follow. People are getting into the spirit of the Centennial and are eager to share their creativity and join in the fun.
