Activities Galore for Children at LaVallee Centennial

In conjunction with the centennial celebrations the centennial committee have planned lots for the children to do. The Children&Mac226;s activities are hosted by Bobbi Morken-Country View Day Care Centre. These events are for the children ages 3-10. Friday July 2nd, 2004 starts at 1:00p.m. and goes until 4:00p.m. at the Country View Child Care Centre at Crossroads School. The children will be split up into groups with a leader for the day. The events for the day will include craft areas, petting zoo, ice cream making, tie dying t-shirts, old time games and horse wagon rides by Harold Kellar. Rounding out the day will be a big scavenger hunt with all the groups participating. Saturday is at the Devlin Ball Park and starts at 12:00 p.m. tent and runs until 4:00p.m. There will be face painting, crafts, water table, children&Mac226;s books and music. On Saturday there will be an inflatable slide or jumper for the children to also play on, and on Friday, penny carnival games for the children to try their chances. These events are free to the children but we do require that they be pre-registered to ensure that we have enough supplies on hand. Parent supervision is also required and parents are welcome to participate. There will be juice and birthday cake available for snacks.

On Saturday we have booked LuLu and the TomCat, winners of the 2002 Prairie Music Award for "Outstanding children&Mac226;s Recording and winners of a 2003 Parents&Mac226; Choice Award. LuLu and the TomCat is an original, high energy, interactive, music based, children&Mac226;s/family entertainment group with a "catty" theme. They play many musical instruments, and use puppets, props, ventriloquism and a wide variety of musical styles to entertain and bring smiles to kids of all ages. Their original writing includes story songs, participation songs, humour and good clean fun. This multi-instrumental duo captivates children by introducing many different musical instruments and their sounds in a "catty" way. With puppets, props and a wide variety of musical styles, they entertain and bring smiles to kids from ages 1 to 100.

Where else can you see a show with cats, a huge singing frog, a conga-line of rats and Howard the Dragon? You can see them right here in Devlin at the Ball Park under the big tent on Saturday July 3rd, 2004 at 3:00p.m.

Ensure you get your registration filled in and returned to the Municipal office so that you can be counted as participating. Come out for "Fun Galore in 2004"
